West Windsor, N.J. (June 27, 2009) - The Long Island Rough Riders women’s team was defeated 3-0 Saturday night by the New Jersey Wildcats. Two first half goals by Kristin Hextall and a late second half tally was the difference as the Rough Riders dropped into fifth place with the loss.
With four games remaining in the 2009 USL W-League season, the Rough Riders women will have to rely on the results of the four teams ahead of them as well as finish the year strong in order to have a chance at returning to the playoffs.
The Rough Riders will return home on Wednesday, July 8th when the women’s team hosts the Hudson Valley Quickstrike at 5PM and the men take on the Brooklyn Knights at 8PM. Both games will be played at Cy Donnelly Stadium at St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, N.Y. SoccerTots Long Island will be giving out soccer beach balls to the first 400 kids in attendance.
