Game 2 Ends In Tie

South Huntington, NY (May 24, 2012)- With the threat of a downpour in the air, the Long Island Rough Riders returned to Cy Donnelly Stadium for the second PDL game of the season.  After losing to Reading United in the home opener, the Rough Riders were looking to bounce back.  After a hard fought match, the Rough Riders had to settle for a 1-1 tie against the Baltimore Bohemians.

The newly branded Baltimore Bohemians were evenly matched with the Rough Riders, keeping the fans entertained throughout.

The first half of the game was fast paced and wide open.  In the 39th minute the Rough Riders were awarded a free kick just outside the 18-yard box on the right side of the field.  Stephan Barea lined up to take the free kick and struck a perfectly placed ball in the top right corner of the net.  Rough Rider fans celebrated, giving the Rough Riders a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

A common theme of the season thus far, has been poor starts to the second half.  In the 49th minute the Bohemians were awarded a penalty shot that was scored by Christopher Summerville, tied score
1-1.

Although there was plenty of time left in the game for both teams to get a result, intense downpours towards the end of the second half made it nearly impossible to move the ball across the field.

"The Rough Riders have been steadily improving as the team builds their chemistry," said Long Island Rough Riders Vice President Flavio Ferri, "It is still very early in the season and there is much to look forward to as the season progresses."

Be sure to support the Rough Riders as they continue the PDL 2012 Season at Cy Donnelly Stadium in South Huntington on Thursday, June 7th at 7:30pm as they take on the Bermuda Hogges.
