The W-League announced its regular season honors naming 3 Rough Riders to its ALL-Conference and ALL-League teams.
After the W-League announced its ALL-Conference teams this past Tuesday July 21st, naming Rough Riders, Shan Jones, CJ Ludemann and Sue Alber-Weber, to the ALL-Northeastern Conference team, the announcing of W-League honors continued today. The Long Island Rough Riders would like to congratulate Shan Jones and Sue Alber-Weber for being named to the 2015 W-League ALL-League Team.
Forward Shan Jones had a phenomenal season, leading the Rough Riders in points (24), goals (11) and shots (43). Moreover she shares second for assists (2) with Samantha Scolarici. Being named W-League player of the Week in Week 6, Jones is placed high in the overall W-League stats. Having scored 11 goals, she holds the 3rd place in the league for goals, the 5th place in point leaders and the 4th place in shots leaders. This is not the first time for this former Welsh National team member, to earn W-League honors. She won nearly every possible award in the W-League in 2013, including League Rookie of the Year and MVP in addition to being named to the W-League All-Conference and All-League team.
“I am very happy with the award and recognition,” said Shan Jones. “I want to thank my teammates for making this possible and am looking forward to continue my soccer career at a high level.”

Defender and Rough Riders captain Sue Alber-Weber has led the team’s defense strong and even scored an important goal, to help the team stay in one of the top positions in the league. This is the second consecutive year for the former Boston Breakers professional player, to be named to the W-League All-League team. Having been with the Rough Riders for 6 years, Sue has earned several League honors such as two-time Defender of the Year, while being a finalist for Defender of the year in the 2014 Season.
“I am excited to have made the ALL-League Team a second consecutive year in a row,’ said Sue Alber-Weber. “ It is an honor to play for such a well-known organization as the Rough Riders and even though this is an individual award, I could not have done it without my team and the entire Rough Riders coaching staff.”

Midfielder CJ Ludemann has done a great job in her fourth season with the Rough Riders, leading the team with 4 assists. Moreover, she holds the second place in goals leaders and points leaders on the team having scored 4 times while earning 12 points. CJ Ludemann, Shan Jones and Sue Alber-Weber were the only players having played in all 12 regular season games.
The finalists for Coach of the Year, Defender of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player will be announced on Thursday, July 23, with the awards presented at the W-League Championship Awards Banquet in Laval on Saturday, July 25.
