ROUGH RIDERS SIGN UNIVERSITY OF HARTFORD’S ANDRE MORRISON
Morrison signs for first PDL season with the Rough Riders
PLAINVIEW, NY- (Friday, February 10, 2017) – The Long Island Rough Riders are pleased to announce that University of Hartford’s, Andre Morrison has signed for the 2017 season. The current junior will be a solid addition to the back line along with the other signees Tom Wharf and Daniel Gwyther.
This 2016 season at Hartford, Morrison was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team and the America East All-Championship Team. Morrison started and played in all 22 matches for the Hawks. Providing major defensive support, Morrison helped in limiting opponents to 1.23 goals per game and seven shutouts. Along with awards in 2016, Morrison was also named to the America East All-Rookie Team (2014).
Prior to Hartford, Andre Morrison was a two year team captain at Spalding High School and took home awards as the team’s Best Defender, Most Valuable Player and Best Young Player during his time there. Morrison was also invited to represent his native country Jamaica on the U20 team. Morrison has had an extremely successful career and the Rough Riders expect him to make an immediate impact.
General manager, Flavio Ferri states, “We are delighted to add a young quality center back to our roster. Andre plays at a high level in college as well having represented his country in international play. He fits our style of play of building from the back and we expect Andre to have a huge impact on the back line.
