The midfielder/forward led the Rough Riders in scoring last season with 12 goals in all competitions, including 10 in the Premier Development League (now USL League Two).
“Charlie’s a player who brings another dimension to our club,” Cosmos coach Carlos Mendes said. “He’s got incredible speed and a great engine who will be able to open games up for us.”
Making his mark early by scoring twice in the 6-3 aet victory over Kingston Stockade FC in the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Ledula scored in every other PDL match during a seven-game stretch from May 19 to June 16 as Long Island continued to battle for the top spot in the PDL Mid-Atlantic Conference.
He had six goals in the final six matches — including braces in a 2-1 win against Lehigh Valley United on June 23 and in a 4-3 loss to New York Red Bulls Under-23 on June 30 — as the Rough Riders finished the campaign 10-5-1 overall and 9-4-1 in the PDL, falling just short of the playoffs.
Ledula, who found the back of the net four times in the final four matches, was named to the 2018 PDL All-Eastern Conference first team as a result of his standout season.
The Cosmos, which went 10-0-0 during last year’s NPSL regular season while capturing the North Atlantic Conference title, open their 2019 campaign on April 27 against New York Athletic Club.
