Supporting the Community

supporting-the-communityThe Long Island Rough Riders Thomas Wharf from the Men’s Team helped out at a PARP Event, reading to elementary school kids and sharing some soccer tips. Teddy, the team mascot, accompanied Wharf, bringing smiles to all.

PARP, Parents As Reading Partners,  is a program aimed at involving parents in the essential task of helping their children become better readers.  It is a united endeavor amid parents, staff, community, and libraries to build a reading partnership/relationship between the home and the school.

Wharf read three books to the kids who attended the event, books like “Froggy Plays Soccer” and “Davy, Soccer Star.”The kids were all smiles, especially when Teddy showed up, who juggled the soccer ball on his foot.  The Rough Riders support the PARP program and enjoyed spending time with the kids.
