Plainview, NY – The Long Island Rough Riders are looking forward to hosting two great rematches on their field this upcoming Saturday, June 20. The Rough Riders women will be playing the New Jersey Wildcats at 5.00PM, while the men will be taking on F.A. Euro at 7.30PM. Both games will be held at CY Donnelly Stadium on the campus of St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, NY.

New Jersey is currently 4th with 7 points in the 2015 W-League Northeastern Conference, having played 7 games so far. The Long Island Rough Riders women are currently 2nd with 13 points having played 6 games so far. Coming out of a victory against the North Jersey Valkyries, the Rough Riders are looking to continue their winning ways, earning valuable points in the run for the Playoffs.  Players to watch are Shelby Halasz, who scored a hat trick when the Rough Riders beat New Jersey 3 – 0 in their first match of the season, and Shan Jones who scored in every home game so far, leading the team in goals with 6 goals in 6 games.

“We are looking forward to our rematch against the Wildcats,” said Rough Riders General Manager Flavio Ferri.  “This is our last regular season home game and we need to make our home field advantage translate into 3 points.”

F.A. Euro is currently 8th in the 2015 PDL Mid Atlantic Division with 4 points out of 7 games. The Long Island Rough Riders men are currently 1st, with 16 points in 8 games. Despite the difference in the standings, it is never easy to play against a local rival. This is an experience, the Rough Riders painfully endured, in the first match of these two local rivals earlier this season, when F.A. Euro defeated the Rough Riders with 3 – 0. The Rough Riders are coming out of 3 consecutive victories and are looking to continue their winning streak, earning valuable points in order to stay on top in the division.

“Our game earlier in the season against F.A. Euro was our worst team performance,” said Flavio Ferri, Rough Riders General Manager.  “Some of our injured players are back in the line-up and we’re hoping to put in a solid performance in order to defeat a tough local rival.”

The Long Island Rough Riders are teaming up with the United Breast Cancer Foundation to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales, Raffles and our special Pink Rough Riders Cancer Awareness Shirts will support UBCF’s mission and life-supporting programs!
