Florida Southern Pair Sign for USL2 Season

UNIONDALE, N.Y. – (Friday, April 23, 2021) – The Long Island Rough Riders men’s team is pleased to announce the additions of Eduardo Capote and Alberto Diaz for the upcoming 2021 United Soccer League Two season.

Capote, a midfielder, played in 14 games on the 2019 season with Florida Southern. He started in 13 of the matches, scoring 3 times on the year. The Junior from Navacerrada, Spain was awarded a pair of honors for his 2019 efforts in the form of Second Team All-SSC and Third Team United Soccer Coaches All-South Region.

“Edu is a talented attacking midfielder who can add a bit of flair to our squad.” Rough Riders Head Coach Tom Bowen said. “He is playing at a high level down in Florida and we are excited to see what he can do with the Rough Riders.”

Also joining the Rough Riders this summer is Capote’s Florida Southern teammate, Alberto Diaz. He started in all 14 games he played in on the year and scored the game-winning goal in the Moc’s win over ranked Limestone.

“Alberto joins us along with his Florida Southern teammate Edu. Alberto is a talented center mid who likes to take control of the game and dictate the pace of play.” Sporting Director Stephen Roche said. “We believe he will be a key figure for us this season.”

The Rough Riders open their 2021 USL2 campaign against NJ Copa FC on Saturday, May 22nd at 8:00 pm.
