The Long Island Rough Riders hosted the GPS Portland Phoenix, Friday, at Cy Donnelly Stadium, in their biggest match of the year.
The Rough Riders struck first when a cross attempt from Junior Rosero flew over the keeper and into the back of the net, in the 19th minute. However, the Rough Riders quickly forfeited that lead and the Portland Phoenix drew it level within a minute.
The Rough Riders closed the half strongly by grabbing two goals from Tyler Botte, including a stoppage time header.
The Portland Phoenix responded early into the second half when Guilherme Leme bagged his second goal of the game to make it 3-2 in the 47th minute.
The score would stay 3-2 and the Rough Riders earned a crucial three points. Tomorrow night they welcome the Seacoast United Phantoms and will be looking for another victory.
