The Long Island Rough Riders hosted the Lancaster Inferno, at Cy Donnelly Stadium, looking to remain undefeated through their first three games of the season.
The first half for the Rough Riders featured a lot of missed opportunities. Long Island was the more dominant side but only put 1 of their 5 shots on target and were called for seven offsides. The Inferno were unable to capitalize on the mistakes and the game was 0-0 at the break.
The second half opened with a quick goal. The Inferno whipped a cross into the box that was cleared by the Rough Riders but the clearance only made it out 20 yards. The ball landed at the foot of Teresa Ryner. who put her foot through the ball and just passed the outstretched arms of Rough Rider keeper, Emmalee Mayer, for a goal in the 47th minute.
With 10 minutes left to play the skies opened up and the rain poured down causing for the game to be delayed at the 84th minute. When the game resumed the Rough Riders were unable to create a good enough chance to secure a point at home and the Inferno walked away with a 1-0 win.
The Rough Riders will play away from home on June 11th against the New England Mutiny.
