Lopez Signs!



Midfielder is the younger brother of NYCFC’s Mikey Lopez

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. – (Monday, April 24, 2017) – The Long Island Rough Riders, exclusive PDL affiliate of New York City Football Club, today are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Andy Lopez for the upcoming 2017 season.

Lopez, 21, is a redshirt sophomore at the University of North Carolina. He had two assists in 12 games last season helping the Tar Heels advance to the NCAA Tournament semifinals, losing to eventual champion Stanford University in penalty kicks. Lopez, the younger brother of New York City FC midfielder Mikey Lopez, had three goals and one assist in 20 games in 2015 for UNC.

Prior to joining UNC, Lopez was in Sporting Kansas City’s Under-18 Academy. He scored seven goals in 15 games during the 2013-14 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season. He played his club soccer at Lonestar FC in Texas.
