The Long Island Rough Riders, exclusive USL League Two affiliate of New York City FC, put their six-game unbeaten streak on the line against winless Evergreen FC on June 29.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. from Evergreen Sportsplex in Leesburg, Va.

Long Island comes into the match at 4-1-4 (16 points) following a 1-1 draw against unbeaten Reading United AC on June 26. The Rough Riders, who currently sit in second place in the Mid Atlantic Division behind Reading (8-0-2; 26 points), haven’t lost since May 22.

Anthony Alfonso scored for the second consecutive game as Long Island earned a draw and a vital point on the road against the 2018 national runners up.

While the Rough Riders are in the thick of the battle for playoff contention — Lehigh Valley United has 14 points and three teams sit at 12 — the 2019 campaign has been the opposite for Evergreen FC (0-7-3; 3 points). Winless on the season, Evergreen FC comes into the contest following a 1-1 draw against New York Red Bulls Under-23.

Long Island has the division’s second-best defense with nine goals against (through nine matches), while Evergreen FC has surrendered the most at 23 through 10 matches.

The matchup is the third of four consecutive road matches for the Rough Riders, who conclude the road trip at Red Bulls U-23 on July 2.
