The Long Island Rough Riders women’s team looks to extend its winning streak to three games when it welcomes the Worcester Smiles on June 5.
Kickoff is 5:30 p.m. from Hofstra University Soccer Stadium.
The Rough Riders (3-2-0; 9 points) come into the match following consecutive 2-0 victories over New Jersey Copa FC on May 22 and Rochester Lancers on June 2.
“We try to stay the course and get better every practice session and every game,” head coach Karim Diallo said. “We have been a bit more consistent both on and off the ball which has helped us tremendously.”
“The defense has been great the past couple of games,” Diallo said. “It’s a bit tough because we’ve had two different goalkeepers behind the defenders but they both have commanded their boxes extremely well and have made great saves to keep us in games while helping calm the nerves a bit when we’ve been ahead a goal or two.”
Worcester is at the bottom of the table at 0-4-0. The Smiles who lost 5-0 to Syracuse DA on June 1, have yet to find the back of the net this season while surrendering a conference-high 17 goals.
“We want to approach every game the same way regardless of the opponent,” Diallo said. “We have a good mix of veteran and young players who I trust to be mentally and emotionally prepared and ready to perform and do it well.”
