The Long Island Rough Riders, exclusive USL League Two affiliate of New York City FC, extended their unbeaten streak to five games with a 1-1 draw against Lehigh Valley United on June 22 at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa.

Anthony Alfonso scored for Long Island, which improved to 4-1-3 (15 points) with the result, while Lehigh Valley United moved to 4-5-2 (14 points). The Rough Riders are in second place in the Mid Atlantic Division, trailing 2018 national runner-up Reading United AC (8-0-1; 25 points).

Long Island jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute as Alfonso redirected a ball that landed in an ideal position following a free kick. Lehigh Valley United was reduced to 10 men the prior minute after Max Aunger received his second yellow card.

The home side leveled in the 40th minute on a penalty kick by Eddy Enowbi. Lehigh Valley was awarded the kick after Ryan Keenan was shoved from behind in the box following a corner kick.

The score remained 1-1 at halftime.

Both teams had their share of chance in the second half, but neither was able to break the deadlock.

Long Island was reduced to 10 men in the 86th minute when Dion Dozzell was shown a straight red card.

The Rough Riders return to action against unbeaten Reading United AC on June 26. Kickoff is 7 p.m. from Wilson High School in West Lawn, Pa.
