Matt Sloan scored three goals to lead the Long Island Rough Riders to a 4-1 victory against FA Euro New York on June 19 at Hofstra University Soccer Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y.
Tim Estermann also found the back of the net for the first time this season as Long Island improves to 4-1-2 (14 points) with the victory, while FA Euro drops to 2-4-4 (10 points) after the defeat.
Sloan put the home side ahead in the eighth minute on an assist from 17-year-old Jason Ramirez, who made his USL League Two and Rough Riders debut.
FA Euro tied the score in the 13th minute, but the game changed after Filippo Tamburini received a red card in the 37th minute.
The Rough Riders capitalized on the man advantage as Sloan’s second of the game in the 41st minute gave Long Island a 2-1 lead at the halftime interval.
Estermann extended the lead to 3-1 with a rocket from outside the box in the 59th minute and Sloan completed his hat trick four minutes later to seal all three points for the home side.
The Rough Riders, who extended their unbeaten streak to four straight, return to action against Lehigh Valley United on June 22. Kickoff is 7 p.m. from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa.
