UNIONDALE, N.Y. – (Thursday, April 8, 2021) – The Long Island Lady Rough Riders women’s team is pleased to announce that Steve Price will return as head coach for the upcoming 2021 United Women’s Soccer season.
“We are thrilled that Steve Price is returning to lead the Lady Rough Riders after the season was canceled last year.” Sporting Director Shannon Neely Noel said. “Steve brings a tremendous level of passion, experience, and leadership to the table that will be instrumental in laying the groundwork for this season and years to come.”
Price was appointed as the Long Island Lady Rough Riders Head Coach in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last year’s UWS season was canceled.
Price brings with him a wealth of soccer experience. Currently, he is the Molloy College Women’s Soccer Head Coach, in five seasons leading Molloy, Price has guided the Lions to a 29-22-7 (13-5-7 East Coast Conference) overall record. In 2019, the Lions won the program’s first East Coast Conference Championship, advancing to the final 16 in the NCAA Tournament. Price also works as a head coach with Long Island Soccer Club.
“Coming back to work for an organization like the Long Island Rough Riders is a great opportunity because of the quality of players we have,” Price said. “After the 2020 UWS season was canceled, I’m eager to get back to work and hopefully bring home a National Championship.”
A native of Middlesbrough, England, Price has been in the United States for more than 20 years coaching at various levels from youth to collegiate soccer.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Price back to the franchise as head coach of the women’s team,” Long Island Rough Riders President Peter Zaratin said. “Steve has been a mainstay in the girls’ and women’s soccer scene on Long Island for more than 20 years, which will serve as an advantage for both coach and club this upcoming season and beyond.”
The Rough Riders open their 2021 UWS campaign against NJ Copa FC on Saturday, May 22nd at 6:00 pm.
