The Long Island Rough Riders have historically been in the business of developing local athletes into outstanding collegiate, national and professional soccer players. The model has recently been enhanced by joining with local Major League Soccer club, New York City FC, as a youth affiliate. The affiliation will provide access to world-class coaching models as well as a exclusive league with other affiliates throughout the Tri-state area. In the minds of all the young Rough Riders, the end goal is likely quite clear: a spot in the first team at NYCFC.
“We have always used a balanced methodology for teachings crucial skills to our players on Long Island”, said Rough Riders GM, Flavio Ferri. “The NYCFC affiliation gives us more access to well-established coaches and ideas, as well as a great connection to a pro club. The kids will love being connected to the professional badge”.
Eleven youth clubs will compete against each other with one common goal in mind: getting to the next level of soccer, from college to professional. The Rough Riders opposition stretches as far as Connecticut and New Jersey, comprised of established youth clubs throughout the region. The advantage of the affiliation is support from NYCFC coaches, creating a teaching environment for even the most elite level academy staff. Our qualified coaches and aspiring players will essentially have a unified vision for how the game should be played and with the same outcome in mind, our academy philosophy will provide concrete results as players move on the next level.
