HICKSVILLE, NY – The Long Island Rough Riders held their annual Open Tryouts this past Saturday April 4. Sessions were held at Cantiaque Park in Hicksville, NY. Over 100 participants from various countries vied for a spot on the Rough Riders PDL and U20 reserve teams. Several players were selected to move on to the invitational Tryout which will be held later this April for a final selection. Additional players were selected for further evaluation with the Long Island Rough Riders Reserve Team (U20), with a potential chance of being called up to join the PDL Team in the future.
“We are striving to build on the positive trend from the last season and are excited to find new talent to join the Rough Rider Franchise”, said Flavio Ferri, Rough Riders General Manager. “With the existing core from last year and a few strategic additions, we are primed to make a run towards the playoffs.”
This upcoming season, the Rough Riders will play in the ten-team Mid Atlantic Division of the PDL, widely considered the toughest in the league. This year they will kick off their season with a home game against Westchester on May 9th.
