Rough Riders Sign Schneider

Led University of Albany women to consecutive America East titles

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. – (Monday, April 10, 2017) – The Long Island Rough Riders women’s team is pleased today to announce the signing of midfielder Alexa Schneider for the upcoming 2017 season.

Schneider, 21, is coming off a stellar career at the University of Albany where she helped lead the Great Danes to consecutive America East Conference titles. The center midfielder had 17 goals and 14 assists in 79 games. She was the first Albany women’s soccer player to earn America East All-Conference First Team honors twice.

“Alexa has been one our most consistent performers over the last few seasons.  She is versatile and has the ability to make players around her better,” Long Island general manager Flavio Ferri said. “She will be a key component to what we hope will be a winning formula this season.”

Prior to playing at Albany, Schneider was a four-year letterwinner at Division Avenue High School in Levittown, N.Y. Schneider was a two-time All-State First Team selection (2011, ’12) and helped her team to four conference titles, and to a pair of county final appearances (2010, ’11).
