ROUGH RIDERS TEAM UP WITH HAMMER ATHLETICS
Long Island-based company will be club’s sports performance partner
PLAINVIEW, N.Y. – (Wednesday, April 5, 2017) – The Long Island Rough Riders, exclusive PDL affiliate of New York City Football Club, today announce Hammer Athletics as the club’s official sports performance partner.
Founder Stephen Gourlay, a former professional soccer player with Rangers FC in Scotland, will be working with the Rough Riders to improve players’ performance through tailored curricula and modern training technologies ahead of the 2017 season and beyond. Gourlay will work first-hand with the senior teams on and off the field to assure they achieve peak performance. Junior Rough Riders will also benefit from the new partnership with the ability to train with Gourlay as a team or schedule individual sessions at Hammer’s state-of-the-art facility.
“We are thrilled to have such an experienced professional soccer player and renowned athletic trainer such as Stephen Gourlay and Hammer working with the Long Island Rough Riders,” Rough Riders President Peter Zaratin said.
Gourlay, the inventor of the Zero Gravity Performance System, boasts an extensive resume as a trainer with more than 20 certifications, including NSCA-TSAC, Kettle bell, and Certified Strength Coach. He has worked with and trained countless athletes and programs including: Hanley Ramirez (Los Angeles Dodgers), Yunel Escobar (Tampa Bay Rays), Dawn Riley (America’s Cup sailor), Angela Ruggiero (U.S. women’s ice hockey), Ohio State University lacrosse, University of Rhode Island softball and many others. Gourlay is currently the strength and conditioning coach of the New York Cosmos (NASL) and is actively honing his craft while improving and motivating others through relationships with various soccer teams and elite-level strength training programs
