Plainview, NY – The Long Island Rough Riders are looking forward to hosting two great games on their field this upcoming Wednesday, June 17. The Rough Riders women will be playing the North Jersey Valkyries at 5.00PM, while the men will be taking on the Ocean City Nor’easters at 7.30PM. Both games will be held at CY Donnelly Stadium on the campus of St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, NY.
North Jersey is currently 5th with 4 points in the 2015 W-League Northeastern Conference, having played 6 games so far. The Long Island Rough Riders women are currently 2nd in the Northeastern Conference with 10 points out of 5 games this season. After a great start to the season, the Rough Riders are coming out of their first draw and loss against two of the Northeastern Conferences leading teams and are looking to get back on track, earning valuable points in the run for the playoffs. A player to watch is Rough Rider own and former welsh national team member Shan Jones, who scored in every home game so far.
“We are coming off a disappointing weekend where we earned only 1 point at home off of two games,” said Flavio Ferri, Long Island Rough Riders General Manager. “This is our first game this season against the Valkyries and we are determined to get the win in order to keep pace in our division.”
Ocean City is currently 5th in the 2015 PDL Mid Atlantic Division with 12 points out of 6 games this season. The Long Island Rough Riders men are currently 4th with 13 points having played 7 games. Both teams have won 4 games so far and are fighting for one of the top spots in the run for the playoffs. The Rough Riders are coming out of two consecutive victories against Westchester and Real Boston and are looking to continue their winning streak.
“Ocean City Nor’Easters have traditionally been one of the top teams in our conference,” said Flavio Ferri, Long Island Rough Riders General Manager. “We are directly competing for a playoff spot and we need to come ready to play in order to secure the win.”
