Plainview – The women will kick off a Rough Riders double header when they face the New York Magic at 5:00pm on Saturday, May 30 at Westhampton Beach High School. The men will be taking on D.C. United U23 at 7:30pm.
The Rough Riders women finished 5th in last year’s W-League Northeastern Conference while New York Magic finished 3rd.
Both teams already played each other this season, when the Rough Riders women took home a 4 – 2 victory over New York.
“It is always difficult to beat a good team in consecutive games”, said Flavio Ferri, Rough Riders General Manager. “We are focused on putting in a strong performance in order to stay undefeated at home.”
The Rough Riders men finished 3rd in last year’s Mid Atlantic Division. D.C. United played in the NPSL (National Premier Soccer League), where they managed to win the Mid Atlantic Championship and move on to the regional semifinals.
The Rough Riders men are coming out of two painful losses after a great start to the season. This will be the first match of these two opponents played against each other.
“We are coming off of two losses in which we didn’t play poorly,” said Flavio Ferri, Rough Riders General Manager. “We need to do a better job of finishing our opportunities and get back on a winning track. We have an experienced team and I am confident we will come out motivated to get the 3 points.”
