Plainview – The Rough Riders women will start off their 2015 W-League season against the New York Magic at 5:00pm as part of a double header with the men’s team on Saturday, May 16 at MacArthur High School in Levittown. The men will be taking on the 2014 Eastern Conference Champions Jersey Express at 7:30pm.
The Rough Riders finished 5th in last year’s W-League Northeastern Conference while New York Magic finished 3rd.
“We are excited to open up our 2015 W-League season against one of our local rivals”, said Flavio Ferri, Rough Riders General Manager. “We’ve had some thrilling games against New York Magic in previous seasons. We expect a tough game but we are focused on getting the three points at home to open up our season.”
The Rough Riders finished 3rd in last year’s Mid Atlantic Division. Jersey Express won the 2014 Eastern Conference Championship and made it to the National Semi Finals.
“It is crucial that we do not drop points in this league – especially at home, because this season is so short,” said head coach Paul Roderick. “That is why it is very important that we build on last week’s performance and result against one of the strongest teams in the league.”
This season, the Rough Riders Men play in the ten-team Mid Atlantic Division of the PDL, widely considered the toughest in the league. The Women’s team will continue to play in the Eastern Conference of the W-League.
