Rough Riders to travel to Canada
PLAINVIEW, N.Y. – The Rough Riders women will be traveling to Canada to resume W-League competition, in two important rematches against the Laval Comets and Quebec Dynamo ARSQ.
The first game will be held on Sunday, June 28th when the Rough Riders will be taking on the Laval Comets at Desjardins Stadium at 4 PM.
The Rough Riders are currently first in the 2015 W-League Northeastern Conference with 16 points out of 7 games, coming off of 2 consecutive victories. The Laval Comets are currently 2nd coming out of 3 consecutive victories having earned 16 points as well. This will be a game to watch, as the first match of these rivals ended even.
“Laval are a very organized and well coached team,” said Flavio Ferri, Long Island Rough Riders General Manager. “Laval are hosting the W-League Championships, so matching up against them on their home turf will be great test for us.”
Just one day later, the Rough Riders will be taking on Quebec Dynamo ARSQ at Chauveau Stadium. Quebec Dynamo ARSQ is currently 3rd with 14 points and 7 games played. In the first match of these two great teams, Quebec defeated the Rough Riders 2 – 1 in a tough game.
“Our only defeat thus far was against Quebec,” said Flavio Ferri, Long Island Rough Riders General Manager. “They are a direct competitor for a playoff spot and we need to play at a high level in order to come away with the victory.”
The Rough Riders are heading into these top Northeastern Conference games with huge expectations on their way to the playoffs and are accompanied by a group of 170 supporters from their youth program. Before they head home, the Long Island Rough Riders will be attending the Women’s World Cup’s Semi Finals during their trip to Canada, rooting for Team USA.
