Uniondale, N.Y. – The Rough Riders entered Sunday’s game already as champions of the Metropolitan Division in the USL W League, but put the cherry on top of the regular season with a 15-0 win over Paisley Athletic.

The Rough Riders clinched their third Metropolitan crown in a row on Saturday while off the field thanks to the second-place team Morris Elite SC losing to NJ Copa FC 3-2. But even if Morris Elite had won, it wouldn’t have mattered anyway since the Rough Riders won today and would’ve won the division by two points.

Even with the pressure off the match-up, the Rough Riders still played as if the game meant something, scoring seven goals in the first half and eight goals in the second.

Luciana Setteducate lead the scoring on the day with four goals; Madison Abi Aoun, Elliana Dos Santos, Kayleigh Goodrich and Micala Boex each scored a brace (two goals); and Fiona Kilian and Hailey Metzger each scored one goal.

With her two goals, Goodrich will finish the season with 17 goals, currently in the lead for the Golden Boot award by six goals in the entire USL W League at the time of writing. Setteducate finishes second on the team with 11 goals, and Boex will finish third with 10.

Long Island keepers Ava Voynovich and Mia Hennely, who each played 45 minutes, split the clean sheet.

The playoffs to determine the Eastern Conference Division Champions will commence July 3 in the conference semi-finals. The Rough Riders will play Vermont Green in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.

Who they play depends on seeding but where they play is determined by the USL W League office, irrespective of seeding.
