Rough Riders player continues her rise on the international stage.
The Long Island Rough Riders are proud to congratulate Aaliyah Fuentes on her call-up to the Guatemala U20 Women’s National Team, marking another significant milestone in her development as a player.
Fuentes has been part of the Rough Riders family for several years, beginning with private training and specialized group clinics before advancing into supplemental team competition through the club’s USL Youth program as part of her continued development toward higher levels of the game.
Fuentes has also been a key part of the Rough Riders’ recent success at the national level, representing the club on back-to-back Electrolit USL Youth Finals qualification teams with the Rough Riders U14 and U15 teams. Those experiences have provided Aaliyah with the opportunity to compete against some of the top youth players and clubs in the country while continuing to develop in a highly competitive environment.
Her selection by Guatemala reflects years of hard work, commitment, and growth both on and off the field. The opportunity to represent her country at the international level provides another important step in her development as she continues to pursue her ambitions in both the college and professional game.
“Aaliyah’s call-up is a reflection of the hard work, commitment, and determination she has shown throughout her development,” said Adam Allaway, Long Island Rough Riders USL Youth Director. “We have had the privilege of watching her grow through different stages of our program, always seeking to improve and challenge herself. We are incredibly proud of Aaliyah and excited to see what this opportunity leads to as she continues her development in the college and professional game.”
Fuentes’ achievement is the latest example of the Long Island Rough Riders’ commitment to supporting players as they pursue opportunities at the collegiate, professional, and international levels of the game.
“Aaliyah has always embraced the challenge of improving her game,” said Oliver Whaley, Rough Riders USL Youth Coach. “She is a dedicated player who consistently looks to learn and develop. This opportunity is a testament to the work she has put in, and we are excited to see what she accomplishes next.”
For the Rough Riders, Fuentes’ accomplishment adds to the club’s proud legacy of female players who have gone on to achieve success at higher levels of the game. Her call-up serves as an inspiration for the next generation of players pursuing similar dreams.
Everyone at the Long Island Rough Riders congratulates Aaliyah on this outstanding achievement and wishes her continued success as she represents Guatemala on the international stage.
