UNIONDALE, N.Y. – (Wednesday, February 23, 2022) –
The Long Island Rough Riders are pleased to announce the re-signing of Albert Kang for the 2022 USL 2 season.
“I’m absolutely delighted to have Albert Kang back for another season,” said Head Coach Tom Bowen. “He was our Young Player of the of the Year last season and will be key to any success we have again this season too.”
The Vancouver native returns to the Rough Riders after making an impact in his rookie season last year. He was not only elected by the Rough Riders organization as 2021 Young Player of the Year, he also was awarded the Week 9 Goal of the Week by the USL 2 League.
He totaled 679 minutes in 9 games played for the Rough Riders and was a force to be reckoned with in the central midfield.
Kang is finding just as much success in his collegiate career at the University of Loyola Maryland. In his junior season, he was one of 7 players to see playing time in all 20 games while earning a starting spot in 15 of those games, collecting a grand total of 1,211 minutes. Kang and the Greyhounds claimed their first Patriot League Championship in the 2021 season.
“He adds some real quality on both sides of the ball and is one of the nicest, most humble players I’ve come across,” said Bowen. “He’s a serious player with a bright future.”
The Rough Riders are thrilled to welcome Kang back as the USL 2 men’s team prepares for a competitive season. You can get tickets and game day packages for their May 22 home opener and following home games here.
