Our supervised work-study program is influenced by the guiding principle of “how to make oneself indispensable” within a company. The program is designed for selected students who are motivated, goal oriented and desire to be part of the competitive business world of sports.

Website Publications Internship

The Long Island Rough Riders and its parent company and subsidiaries are seeking journalism and content interns to assist our web team in updating our website with quality, creative and timely website content. Interns will work and assist with the company’s Media Director.

Content to include, but not limited to, covering preseason signings, upcoming or post matches during the season, awards won by individual players and the team, human interest stories and  community events.

Job Description:

  • Writing stories for liroughriders.com, globallsportscenters.com, lirevolution.com, etc.
  • Features on adult and youth players, coaches, staff, etc.
  • Reporting on activities at practice, games, community or special events
  • Press releases issued by the team
  • Transcribing video and or audio

Requirements:

  • Degree in communications, media or marketing is a plus

The Long Island Rough Riders are seeking individuals who want to learn all aspects of ticket services.  The internship is designed to give students experience with ticket operations at a United Soccer League stadium during the course of the Rough Riders PDL and W-League season.

Job Description:

  • Manage and fulfill ticket requests for online customers including day of game walkups
  • Assist customers with inquiries.
  • Resolve customer service issues or work with supervisors if unable to do so alone
  • Create and prepare sales and customer demographics reports

The Long Island Rough Riders are seeking interns to assist the Junior Rough Riders Youth Club with all day to day requirements in an effective, efficient and professional manner.

Selected interns will work directly with the Director of Coaching to facilitate the Long Island Rough Riders youth player development programs including, but not limited to, soccer camps, clinics, personal instruction. Long Island Rough Riders programs are specifically designed for players and coaches to develop solid fundamentals of soccer in an educational, structured, energized and professional manner at various locations on Long Island.

Job Description

Assist the Juniors Rough Riders department in marketing, administration, scheduling, and facilitation of events including soccer camps, soccer clinics and coaching education sessions.

Requirements:

  • Must have previous experience playing soccer
  • Ability to work around children ages 4-16 years of age.
  • Must hold a valid driver license and clean driving record.

The Human Resource department for the Long Island Rough Riders, its parent company and various subsidiaries are looking for dependable, well organized and trustworthy interns. The HR intern will play a supportive role to the Human Resources department and will receive exposure to all facets of the Human Relations Department.

Job Description:

  • Assisting with and coordinates recruitment efforts, which may include attending job fairs

Globall Sports Centers is seeking facility operations interns who will work directly with the Facility Director to assist with scheduling, organizing and coordinating of all events at Globall Sports Centers, with an emphasis on program and event day logistics. The Long Island Rough Riders are searching for marketing interns to assist the Marketing department. The marketing intern will report to the Marketing Manager and assist with the day to day objectives for the Marketing department.

  • Assist in the implementation of marketing goals and objectives
  • Assist with grassroots marketing efforts in events, promotions, client entertainment and other activities as required.
  • Assist the marketing department on game-days to coordinate and implement marketing endeavors such as half time entertainment, in game promotions and other related duties

Job Description:

  • Assist with video production for the Long Island Rough Riders television programs and website content
  • Assist camera crew on location – pack and carry bags, run between cameras, assist with anything that helps make the shoot a success
  • Log and transcribe all footage, including games, practices, interviews
  • Assist project creation in Avid editing computers for broadcast editors
  • Research and production planning – topics include: Rough Riders history, current Rough Riders team, USL / MLS topics, NY topics, travel plans for location shoots, etc.

The Long Island Rough Riders are seeking match day interns who will work directly with the Stadium Operations department to assist with scheduling, organizing and coordinating all Rough Riders match day events, with an emphasis on event day logistics. Event day logistics include all pre-game set up, including but not limited to, locker rooms, press box, playing field set-up and post-game breakdown.  This internship is designed to give students an overall view of the daily operations of a United Soccer League stadium during the course of the PDL and W-League season.

  • Must be able to work all home games, including pre, post and friendly matches
  • Assist the Stadium Operations Department with game day operations to include set up, breakdown, VIP hospitality check-in, alumni appearances and event management
  • Assist with coordination among other departments to ensure that all day of game set-up, giveaways, signage, etc. are met effectively
  • Facilitate any visiting team’s needs; oversee all specific requests, working with various departments to facilitate those requests

Information Technology Internship

The main role of the Information Technology Internship is to ensure that all employee’s IT related problems are addressed and rectified. This role requires helping users with a wide range of IT tasks throughout a typical day. It also entails recommending and administering upgrades, repairs, and enhancements to the various computers, devices, and software. When necessary, this position will require you to assist other members of the department in their daily operations, as well as learning to perform their duties as to lessen the workload on the other department members.

Job Description

  • Act as first responder as users encounter problems with any Information Technology related task, usually dealing with local workstations, printers, mobile devices (smartphones), and network shares.
  • Prepare computers for employees, including setting up new computers, clearing data off previously used computers and preparing them for use by another user.
  • Contact appropriate 3rd party vendors for part replacements and/or make appointments repairs by a technician.
  • Clean workstations of malicious software, such as viruses, spyware.
  • Perform research on unresolved issues relating to all aspects of the department.
  • Install applications and educate employees in software and hardware specific to their job.
  • Lifting and transporting of equipment of various weight and bulk.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
