New Youth Teams!

The Rough Riders are excited to announce two new youth programs launching in Fall 2022.

Rough Rider Mini (3-5 years old) and Rough Rider Junior (5-8 years old) are set to kick off in September and utilize the “progression and play” approach, a modern model of development created to teach micro and macro skills during training sessions and roll those over into competitive games.

“We are extremely excited to launch these new youth teams,” said Youth Program Director Adam Allaway. “We strongly believe players should have the opportunity to begin their soccer journey from a young age with professionally guided practice and games. Our ultimate goal of course, is to gear players towards competitive and professional soccer.”

These new programs will complete the club’s player pathway, offering a start for beginner players as young as 3- years-old all way through to their pre-professional USL (United Soccer League) affiliate teams.

The Mini team will enhance boys and girls physical, social, and cognitive skills as they are introduced to the world’s most popular game. It is a eight-week program for kids under the age of five. The curriculum is age and ability appropriate and based around creating a fun atmosphere where beginner players can enjoy their introductory experience to the game.

The Junior team takes on intermediate players while enhancing boys and girls playing ability through an instruction-based soccer league. It is an eight-week program for kids under the age of 8. The program’s goal is to bring some of the highest-level players together and set them on a clear course to being a future Rough Rider and beyond. Our program includes one training session and one small, sided game a week.

Registration is open for both the Mini and Junior teams with a kickoff date of Sept. 7. For more information and to embark on the Rough Rider’s player pathway, click here.
