Londell Wheeler is returning to the Long Island Rough Riders men’s team for another season, bringing pace and creativity back to the attack for the USL League Two campaign.

Wheeler returns to the Rough Riders this year as he gets set for the next step in his college career at San Diego State University. Wheeler previously competed at LIU, recording two goals and four assists during his four seasons there.

In his senior season at Glen Cove High School in 2022, Wheeler posted 32 points on the strength of 17 goals and 15 assists, while helping the team to the Nassau County Class A crown. In the final, Wheeler scored a goal to help the team to a 2-0 win over Garden City, the school’s first county win since 2016.

He was named conference MVP, All-American and Nassau County player of the year. Wheeler finished his high school career with 46 goals, captaining the team as a junior and senior. He also set a school record by scoring four goals in a playoff game.

“Londell always represents Glen Cove with pride and passion, on and off the soccer field,” Glen Cove Superintendent of Schools Dr. Maria Rianna said on Patch.com when Wheeler signed his letter of intent in 2023. “We are so excited for what lies ahead in his academic and athletic career. Londell will always have a home in Glen Cove and we wish him the best of luck.”

Born Feb. 10, 2005, Wheeler now returns to the Rough Riders for another season on Long Island before beginning his next chapter at San Diego State.
