NEWARK, N.J. – The Long Island Rough Riders men enjoyed their biggest scoring binge of the young USL League Two season, recording an 8-0 triumph over Ironbound SC at Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex on Saturday night.

The result kept Long Island (9 points) unbeaten at 3-0-0 in the Metropolitan Division while Ironbound SC (1) dropped to (0-3-1).

Jake Woznicki and Pietro Fontana led the way as each player finished with a brace.

Justin Mclean, Danny D’Ippolito, Jakob Friedman and Tinashe Katsande added single goals as the visitors dominated the encounter from start to finish. The Rough Riders allowed Ironbound only two shots.

Rough Riders head coach Chris Megaloudis that he was happy with the team’s hunger and relentless attitude.

“We’ve sent a statement to the other teams in the league,” he said.

Due to the poor grass field, the Rough Riders were forced to take more of a direct approach, but the team adapted quite well and was quite effective.

Long Island began its season with a 2-1 home win over NJ Copa FC before registering a 3-1 victory past FC Motown on May 25.

The Rough Riders return home to Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, N.Y. to host the Hudson Valley Hammers on Sunday, June 9 at 6 p.m.
