Pierce Infuso Named CAA Preseason Player of the Year

Former Long Island Rough Riders defender Pierce Infuso, who will enter his fifth season at Hofstra University, was named the Coastal Athletic Association preseason of the year.

A native of Merrick, N.Y. who starred at Bellmore JFK High School, Infuso was a valuable member of the USL League Two team the last three seasons. That included reaching the league’s 2022 final to the Ventura County Fusion.

Infusio was a third team All-American last season with Hofstra, in addition to earning first team All-CAA and CAA Championship Most Outstanding Player honors. He anchored a defense that produced nine shutouts and allowed less than four shots on goal per game. He also chipped in offensively with two goals and an assist.

Also receiving preseason recognition from the CAA was graduate midfielder Roc Carles, who earned an honorable mention selection. A team co-captain and a native of Spain, Carles had three assists in 2023.
