Another day, another milestone for Jessica Garziano.
The Long Island Rough Riders standout continued to grab headlines for her play with the St. John’s University women’s soccer team.
Garziano was named the Big East midfielder of the year on Wednesday as she was a unanimous first team all-conference selection as well.
The Melville, N.Y. native became the sixth player in Red Storm program history to win one of the Big East major awards.
Garziano also was one of three St. John’s players to secure all-league honors four times. She joined recent St. John’s Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Diana Poulin (2013-16) and striker Zsani Kajan (2017-21) as the only players accomplish that feat.
There was little doubt tha Garziano played a vital role in the Johnnies’ success over their 19-game season. Thee Long Island product collected 10 goals and 11 assists, becoming the first player in program history to record double digits in both categories in a campaign.
Garziano enjoyed a record-breaking season for the Red Storm. While registering her third multi-assist game of the season in a victory at Marquette University on Oct. 22, Garziano matched the season assist program record with 11. She ranks seventh in the country and is the second most by a Big East player in the last five years.
Over the summer, Garziano finished another productive season for the Rough Riders, who reached the W League playoffs again.
