UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Monday, February 14, 2022) –
The Long Island Rough Riders are excited to announce Kelsey Hauser as the Women’s Head Coach for the upcoming 2022 season.
“We are thrilled to have Kelsey on board,” said Tanner Sands, Assistant General Manager. “Kelsey has a great history of success, and we believe she is the perfect person to lead our team as we transition into the USL W League. We know she will bring the highest level of quality both on and off the field.”
Originally from Longmeadow, Massachusetts, Hauser played collegiately at Skidmore College before playing in two WPSL seasons. She kicked off her coaching career as a Graduate Assistant for the Women’s team at Clarkson University, then went on to Vassar College serving as Assistant Coach for the Women’s Soccer Team. Eventually, Hauser returned to Clarkson as Head Coach for the Women’s team where she was named as part of the 2017 Coaching Staff of the Year.
Most recently, Hauser joined Hofstra University as Assistant Coach for the Women’s Soccer team who have had an outstanding deal of success. A few achievements from past seasons include USC East Region Coaching Staff of the Year, CAA Conference Champions and five USC All-Americans with two players as NWSL draft picks.
Hauser plans to translate her experience and successes in her new role as Rough Riders Head Coach.
“I am looking forward to coaching a talented group of players who have chosen to further their career and are committed to challenging themselves through team and sport,” said Hauser. “We expect a high level of competition and are eager to create a positive imprint on the local community.”
Hauser’s signing as a female head coach aligns with the mission of the USL W League who are committed to “creating a national platform to increase opportunity, gender equity, and career development.” Having a female lead the women’s team is a step in this positive direction.
“It means a lot to play a role in advancing females in sport, and progressing the women’s game,” said Hauser. “The Rough Riders and USL-W League offer a unique platform to provide that opportunity for girls and women in sport everywhere.”
The Rough Riders are thrilled to open the 2022 season with Kelsey at the helm.
