UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Thursday, February 11, 2022) –
The Long Island Rough Riders would like to announce that Steve Price will be stepping down from his role as the Women’s Head Coach after two seasons.
“On behalf of our organization, we want to send Steve Price our utmost appreciation,” said Tanner Sands, Assistant General Manager. “Under his leadership, Steve helped move our organization forward in a beneficial and positive direction.”
In his initial season as head coach, the women’s season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Despite a previous year of hardship, Price followed up with a strong effort in the 2021 season, ending with a 3-3-4 record. While playing in the competitive East Conference, the team progressed throughout the season under Price’s strong leadership and vision.
The Middlesbrough, England native was able to recruit a strong group and build a positive culture that enabled growth and a collective, which led to success as the season went on. Steve was well respected amongst his staff and players on and off the field.
“For the past two years, Steve has effectively created a positive impact on the players and coaches that surrounded him,” said Sands. “We wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.”
Steve now turns his focus to his future as the Head Coach of Molloy College as well as his Long Island Soccer Club youth teams. Molloy has experienced an unprecedented amount of success in past seasons, claiming back-to-back ECC Championships and coming off a historic 15-5-3 record in the 2021 season, greatly in part to Price’s leadership.
Thank you, Steve!
The women’s first game is set for May 22, at Mitchel County Athletic Complex at 7:30 pm. Tickets along with game day packages are now on sale. Get tickets for the home opener here: https://liroughriders.com/tickets/.
