Rockville Centre, N.Y. native Chloe Shimkin will be bringing her defensive skills to the Long Island Rough Riders women this W League season.
The University of Texas defender came into her own for the Longhorns last fall, starting 15 of 17 appearances that she made.
A junior, Shimkin registered three assists, including one in her first career start against Northwestern State in a 3-2 loss on Aug. 14. She also helped set up the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over the University of Mississippi on Oct. 26.
The 5-foot-1 Shimkin has played at a high level for years, completing her high school studies at IMG Academy.
She also played for the U.S. Under-18 women’s national team, was invited to college identification USYNT camp in 2025 and performed with US. Youth futsal national team.

Shimkin comes from an athletic family.
Her father Peter was a three-time Centennial Conference wrestling champion and NCAA qualifier in the sport at Muhlenberg College.
Chloe’s older sister, Jilly, also played at the University of Texas and performs for the Tampa Bay Sun, the USL Super League defending champions.
Last season Long Island captured the Metropolitan Division title and qualified for the playoffs on the strength of its 7-3-0 record.
The Rough Riders will kick off their 2026 season against Manhattan SC at Marillac Field at the College of Mount Saint Vincent on May 20 at 7:30 p.m. Their home opener at Mitchel Athletic Complex is scheduled against Morris Elite FC on June 7 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available here.
