Tom Paris Signs as Sporting Director

UNIONDALE N.Y. – (Thursday, February 10, 2022) –
The Long Island Rough Riders have named Tom Paris as are the club’s USL W League Sporting Director for the upcoming 2022 season.

Paris served as the women’s assistant coach during the 2021 season.

“The club has a lot of great people behind the scenes, who make it a great experience to work them,” said Paris. “I hope through my hard work, dedication, and networking I will be able to bring in good people, and quality players who can help create and influence the kind of culture we are hoping to have within the team.”

Paris has been an integral part of the Long Island soccer scene, coaching for multiple different clubs over the past 5 years, including NY Cosmos Youth Academy, Massapequa Soccer Club, and the Long Island Soccer Club. Paris made his debut as a collegiate level coach in 2019 when he joined Molloy as the Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach. Paris and Molloy have had a successful three years as Molloy comes off two ECC championships and a historic 15-5-3 record in the 2021 season. 

“Tom as of just last year played an instrumental part of our women’s teams’ success and we believe he is ready for this jump to the Sporting Director role,” said Assistant GM, Tanner Sands. “He knows what it takes to succeed, and we believe he is the right person to lead this franchise forward.”

As Sporting Director, Paris will help guide top-level players through the USL W League program and help form a competitive roster. With Paris’s experience in coaching and prior involvement with the women’s team, he was an ideal choice for the Sporting Director role.

“I am expecting us to have a talented group of players who will work incredibly hard on the field and allow us to be competitive enough to challenge for the title in this new USL W League,” said Paris.The women’s team will be competing in the Metropolitan division in the USL W League’s debut season. The W League is committed to progressing the women’s game

“We have the utmost confidence in his ability to lead and direct and that those qualities will lead to positive results on and off the field,” said Sands.
